Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 (2023) Review: High Performance

At CES in January, Asus introduced a new lineup of ROG and TUF gaming laptops for 2023. In India, the business first introduced a first wave of high-end gaming laptops in March, and then in May, a second wave of mid-range models. The ROG Strix Scar 18 (2023), the laptop under review today, is one of the older models. The base price of this powerful gaming laptop in India is Rs. 2,79,990, but the model we’re examining features the best laptop GPU available from Nvidia and costs Rs. 3,59,990.

Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 (2023) design and features

The Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 is massive and hefty, and it is designed to be used on a desk rather than on your lap. I’ve probably only moved it twice from its location near the power outlet in the couple weeks I’ve been testing it. Its design is quite appealing, and it will undoubtedly appeal to its intended market.

The laptop’s matte black finish is sleek, and there’s lots of RGB lighting across the outside. The lid features a backlit ROG logo, a light strip at the back right above the exhaust vent, and another at the bottom edge in front. The plastic on the sides around the ports, as well as the upper half of the keyboard deck, is translucent. Overall, I believe many gamers will find the Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 scary and futuristic.

The laptop includes a large 330W AC power adapter that requires a 16A power socket. The second is a bit of a problem because we don’t usually have many 16A wall outlets at home, and the ones that we do have are usually used by large equipment like air conditioners. This reduces the amount of places in your home where you can charge or use this laptop, so if you plan on purchasing it, you need consider adding an additional 16A wall socket.
